I have seen a lot of confusion in people about EFT and other modalities that use EFT. Many a times people use the advanced versions or newer modalities without even knowing the basic EFT. The following differentiation will help you if you are new to EFT or if you are lost in the growing number of EFT based techniques!
To make it simpler, I have divided the EFT based healing techniques into 3 types.
1. Classic EFT/Original EFT/Clinical EFT/Official EFT ( founded by Gary Craig) – This has basic and advanced procedures. My suggestion would be to begin with the very basic EFT as described in the manual and then start using the advanced procedures (reframing, table-leg concept, detective work and other ‘art of delivery’ concepts). For details on Clinical EFT visit Dawson Church’s website – www.eftuniverse.com. For details on Official EFT ( Classic EFT is now called Official EFT by Gary Craig) visit www.garythink.com
2. (a) Enhanced or Modified versions of EFT – These do not deviate much from the core. You can easily understand most of these techniques and start applying them on your own. However, some of these techniques do require expert practitioner/trainer guidance and you can contact the creators of these techniques to get direct training from them.
Examples: Choices method, SET & PET, Techniques used by Carol Look, Lindsay Kenny(Pro EFT), Gwyneth Moss, Jan Luther, Geo-Specific EFT (my own Approach) etc.
(b) Practitioner based combinations– Practitioners combine their own techniques with EFT. They may combine hypnotherapy, reiki, reflexology, shiastu, Qi Gong, LOA, energy meridian techniques and other effective alternative modalities with EFT. If you are getting EFT coaching/therapy/consultation, you can request your practitioner to provide you with the EFT basic tapping techniques as well.
3. Newer Techniques that Use EFT – These techniques differ from the core of Classic/Original EFT. They may differ in their basic premise and/or procedure. Example – Faster EFT (Combines EFT and NLP), Matrix Re-imprinting, Inner RePatterning, Energy EFT and Positive EFT etc.

Thanks Karen.
yes well done, a nice overview of what is available. thanks for the clarity..now lets get this out to the public because we therapists are familiar with this information. If you like, perhaps some of us can re-post your article on our facebook profile pages?
Jody, thank you.
Yes, I agree it is important that more people know about this. Please do share it on FB, twitter- so that more poeple out there can get clarity on this.
Hi Puja, Thanks, great idea to do this!
I need to point out that whilst SET is easy to start using and learning on your own (those who are interested can see video and a special report at http://www.eftdownunder.com/SET.html), PET, Provocative Energy Techniques, is not something that can be learned in even one workshop, there is a certification process for learning it and it is very much an advanced approach.
Best wishes, Steve Wells

Thanks for the information Steve. You are right! In fact, many of the techniques given in the ‘Enhanced versions of EFT’ section are actually not that easy to learn, including PET. I will add a small note.
